Removals Croydon Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Removals Croydon has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or supply chains. Removals Croydon is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our operations and relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals Croydon provides residential and commercial removals, packing, and storage services. Our operations rely on employees, agency workers, vehicle and equipment providers, and a range of other contractors and suppliers. We recognise that elements of the transport, logistics, facilities, and agency-labour sectors can be vulnerable to labour exploitation and we are committed to identifying and addressing these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Removals Croydon operates a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, and child labour. We will not knowingly work with any organisation, supplier, or contractor involved in such practices. Any confirmed breach of this policy by an employee, supplier, or contractor will be treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contract, or referral to the relevant authorities.
Policies and Governance
Our zero-tolerance position is supported by internal policies and procedures that cover ethical conduct, recruitment and employment, supplier management, and whistleblowing. These policies are communicated to relevant staff and are subject to periodic review to ensure they remain effective and appropriate to our business and to evolving legislation and best practice.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We recognise that the greatest risk of modern slavery is likely to arise within our supply chains. To manage this risk we carry out due diligence on new suppliers and contractors before engagement, considering their location, industry, reputation, and approach to labour standards. We expect our suppliers to operate with the same high standards that we set for ourselves.
Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of compliance with labour, health and safety, and human rights standards. This may include reviewing documented policies, workforce practices, right to work procedures, and subcontracting arrangements. If we identify concerns, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within an agreed timeframe. Failure to address identified issues may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Employment Practices
Removals Croydon is committed to fair and lawful employment practices. We confirm that all employees have the right to work, are employed voluntarily, and are free to leave their employment in line with their contractual terms. Wages are paid directly to employees, and at or above the applicable legal minimum. We do not tolerate the retention of identity documents, illegal deductions, or any form of intimidation or coercion.
Training and Awareness
We raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our management team and staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, supplier selection, and day-to-day supervision of workers. Training and guidance cover the signs of potential exploitation and the internal channels for escalating concerns. We encourage all colleagues to remain vigilant and to play an active role in protecting vulnerable workers.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Removals Croydon encourages employees, agency workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised to a manager or a senior member of the leadership team. Reports may be made in confidence, and we will not tolerate any victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
All allegations will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and, where appropriate, escalated to the relevant authorities. We are committed to dealing with any reports sensitively and to maintaining confidentiality to the fullest extent possible.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must continue to evolve. We regularly review our policies, due diligence processes, and training to ensure that they remain effective and proportionate to the risks within our operations and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed and updated at least annually by the leadership of Removals Croydon. The annual review will consider any incidents reported, audit findings, changes in legislation, and feedback from employees and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in our approach.
This statement has been approved on behalf of Removals Croydon and represents our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
